Two cars of unequal masses use similar tyres. If they are moving at the same initial speed, the minimum stopping distance

A

is smaller for the heavier car

B

is smaller for the lighter car

C

is same for both the cars

D

depends on the volume of the car

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
C

Minimum stopping distance in constant acceleration motion is given by
`s=u^2/(2a)`
this equation is independent of mass of the object.
Also `a=mu g` for both the tyres.
Hence minimum stopping distance is same for both the tyres.
