The volume of a 600 g sealed packet is 4...

The volume of a `600` g sealed packet is `450 "cm"^(3)` . What is the density of the packet ? Will it float or sink in water if it has the density `1"g cm"^(-3)` ? What will be the mass of the water displaced by this packet ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Volume of the sealed packet `=450cm^(3)`
Mass of the sealed packet `=600g`
Density of the sealed packet
`=("Mass")/("Volume")=(600g)/(450cm^(3))=1.33gcm^(-3)`
The density of the packet is much higher than that of water `(1.0gcm^(-3))`. So, it will sink into water.
Now, density of water `=1gcm^(-3)`
Mass of the displaced water
`=450cm^(3)xx1gcm^(-3)=450g`
