Explain the method of charging an object by friction.

When two bodies are rubbed against each other, they acquire equal and opposite charges. When you rub a glass rod with silk, the glass rod acquires a positive charge. The silk cloth acquires a negative charge. When two bodies are rubbed together, there is friction between them. Therefore a body can be charged by friction.
