In an adiabatic process, no transfer of ...

In an adiabatic process, no transfer of heat takes place between system and surroundings. Choose the correct option for free expansion of an ideal gas under adiabatic condition from the following.

A

`q = 0, Delta Tne 0, W =0`

B

`q ne 0, Delta T =0, W =0`

C

`q = 0, Delta T = 0, W =0`

D

`q = 0, Delta T = 0, W ne 0`

Free expansion `W =0.` Adiabatic process , q =0
`Delta U = q + W =0` this means that internal energy remains constant . Therefore `Delta T = 0`
In ideal gas there is no intermolecular attraction. Hence, when such a gas expands under adiable conditions into a vaccum, no heat is absorbed or evolved since no external work is done to separated molecules.
