Assuming `triangleH^0` and `S^o` do not change with temperature. Calculate, the boiling point of liquid A using the thermodynamic data given below: Thermodynamic
`|{:(A (l)), (-130), (100):}||{:(A (g)), (-100), (200):}|`

A

300 K

B

130 K

C

150 K

D

50 K

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`A (l ) hArr A(g)`
`Delta H Delta H _(A(g)) ^(@) =- 100 - (- 130) = 30 kJ , Delta S = S _(A(g)) ^(@) - S _(a (l)) ^(@) = 200 - 100 = 100 JK ^(-1) mol ^(-1)`
At equilibrium `Delta G = Delta H - T Delta S = 0 therefore T = (DeltaH)/(DeltaS) = (30 xx 1000)/(100) = 300 K`
