The enthalpy of neutralization of a weak...

The enthalpy of neutralization of a weak monoprotic acid (HA) in 1 M solution with a strong base is -55.95 kJ/mol. If the unionized acid is required 1.4 kJ/mol heat for it's complete ionization and enthalpy of neutralization of the strong monobasic acid with a strong monoacidic base is -57.3 kJ/mol. What is the % ionization of the weak acid in molar solution?

A

`1% `

B

`3.57%`

C

`7%`

D

`10%`

`DeltaA to H ^(+) + A ^(-) , Delta _(t) H = 1. 4 kJ // mol , Delta H _("neutrilization")= Delta H _("ionization") + Delta _(f) H`
`( H ^(+) + OH ^(-) to H _(2) O) - 55. 95 = Delta H _("Ionization")-57.2 : Delta H _("Ionization") ` for `1 MHA = 1. 35 kJ // mol`
`%` heat utilized by 1 M acid for ionization `= ( 1. 35)/(1.4) xx 100 = 96.43 %` so aci is `100 - 96.43 = 3. 57%` ionized

Acetic acid and hydrochloric acid react with KOH solution. The enthalpy of neutralization of acetic acid is -55.8 kJ mol^(-1) while that of hydrochloric acid is -57.3 kJ 'mol^(-1) . Why?

1.0 g of a weak monobasic acid HA in 100 g water lowers the freezing point by 0.155 K. If 0.45 g, of same acid requires 15 mL of N/5 NaOH solution for complete neutralistion then %, degree ofionization of acid is (K_f " of H"_(2)O="1.86 K kg mol"^(-1)) . a)0.2 b)0.25 c)0.4 d)0.5

Assertion : Eventhough HF is a weak acid heat liberated during neutralisation with a strong base is more than 57 kJ mol^(-1) Reason : Hydration energy of F-is very large
