Four `2 cmxx2 cmxx 2cm` cubes of ice are taken from a refrigerator and put in `200ml` of a drink at `10^(@)C`
Find the temperature of the drink when thermal equilibrium is attained in it.Density of ice `= 900 kg m^(-8)` , density of the drink `= 1000kgm^(-8)`, specific heat capacity of the drink ` = 4200 J kg^(-1)K^(-1)` ,latent heat of fusion of ice `= 3.4 xx 10^(6)Jkg^(-1)`

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
B, C

Here , Velume of ice ` = 2 xx 2xx 2 = 8 cm^(3)`
Total mass of ice` = 8 xx 0.9 xx 4 = 28.8g`
`:. ` Density of ice `= 0.9gm//cm^(3)`
ice
`mass = 28.8 g temp = 0^(@)C`
Drink
`mass = 200g , temp = 10^(@)C`
Heat required for melting
`= 28.8 xx 80 = 2304 cal
Heat required to drop to `0^(@)C`
` = 200 xx 10 xx 1`
` = 2000 cal`
Hence `2000 cal` releaced by drink must Have been utillised for melting of ice
So , amount of ice is melted bence the temp of the system remain at`0^(@)C`
