A cyclist starts from the centre o of a circular or park of radius 1 km and moves along the path OPRQO as shown in the Fig. If he maintains a constant speed of 10 ms', what is his acceleration at the point R both in magnitude and direction?

A

`0.1ms^(-2),RO`

B

`0.1ms^(-2),RQ`

C

`0.1ms^(-2),PR`

D

None of these

The correct Answer is:
A

Centripetal acceleration is given by.
`a=(v^(2))/(R)=(10xx10)/(1000)` = 0.1`ms^(-2)`
It is always along the radius towards the centre i.e. along RO.
Hence (a) is the correct choice.
