The increase in the length of the stem tip can easily be measured by an arc auxanometer which consists of a small pulley to the axis of which is attached a long pointer sliding over a graduated are. A thread one end of which is tied to the step tp and another end to a weight passes over the pulley tightly . As soon as the stem tip increases in length, the pulley moves and the pointer slide over the greaduated arc (Figure). The reading is taken. The actual increase in the length of the stem is then calculated by knowing the length of the pointer and the radius of the pulley. If the radius of the pulley is 4 inches and the length of pointer 20 inches the actual growth is measured as follows:

In an experiment to measure the speed of light by Fizeau's apparatus, following data are used : Distance between the mirrors = 12.0 km, Number of teeth in the wheel = 180. Find the minimum angular speed of the wheel for which the image is not seen.

In the experiment for the determination of the speed of sound in air using the resonance column method, the length of the air column that resonates in the fundamental mode, with a tunig for is 0.1 , when this length is changed to 3.5 m the same tuning fork resonates with the first overtone. Calculate the end correction :

In a sanometer experiment, resonance is obtained whth the experimental wire has a length of 21 cm between the bridges and the vibrations are excited by a tunning fork of frequency 256 Hz. If a tuning fork of frequency6 384 Hz is used, what should be the lenght of the experimental wire to get the resonance.

The pressure on a square plate is measured by measuring the force on the plate and the length of the sides of the plate by using the formula p=(F)/(l^(2)) . If the maximum errors in the measurement of force and length are 4% and 2% respectively, then the maximum error in the measurement of pressure is .............
