Species is the basic unit of classification in the taxonomic hierarchical system. It is a group of animals having similar morphological features. If they mate with each other they produce fertile offspring, but there are some exceptional animals like mating of male donkey and female horse results in sterile offspring called mule, and ZOOh are closely related species.
