Though ZOOh zoos and wildlife sanctuaries are places where birds and animals are placed in a protected environment, there exists some stark difference between them. Zoo is an artificially created habitat where birds and animals are held captive in cages or enclosed structure and are not allowed to roam free whereas sanctuaries are places where the animals are protected in their natural habitats and can roam at will. While zoos acquire animals by buying and involve in trading of animals between zoos, the sanctuaries only acquire animals that are injured and can no longer survive in the forest on their own. While zoos are open for public to visit, sanctuaries have certain restrictions and limitations. Zoos usually operate at a cost received from people visits and serve education purposes, the main goal of sanctuaries is to promote welfare of the wild animals that need protection.
