Find the inclination to the positive x-a...

Find the inclination to the positive x-axis of the tangent to the curve `y=-3x-x^4` at the point where x=-1

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Given curve is `y=-3x-x^4`
`therefore dy/dx=-3-4x^3`
If `theta` be the required angle of inclination, then we have,
`tan theta=[dy/dx]_(x=-1)
implies tan theta=-3-4.(-1)^3=1`
`impliestheta=pi/4`
