Reimer-Tiemann reaction : When phenol is heated with chloroform in the presence of sodium hydroxide at `60^(@)` C, a -CHO group is introduced at the ortho position with respect to the phenolic group. This reaction is known as Reimer-Tiemann, reaction. -
