Atomic number of nitrogen is 7 , so electronic configuration will be 2,5 .The electron dot structure shows the electron in outermost shell. In order to complete its octet ,each nitrogen atom in a molecule of nitrogen contributes three electrons giving rise to three shared pairs of electrons .This is said to constitute a triple bond between the two atoms.
