Three blocks connected together by strin...

Three blocks connected together by strings are pulled along a horizontal surface by applying force F. If `T_(3) = 36 N`, What is tension `T_2`?

Text Solution

Suppose system slides with acceleration .a.. Then for motion of blocks,
`T_(3)=F=(m_(1)+m_(2)+m_(3))a`
`T_(3)=36 a, i.e., a= (T_(3))/(36)=1m//s^(2), T_(3)-T_(2)=27a`
From above equation, `36-T_(2)=27xx1 therefore T_(2)=9N`.
