In a Young's double slit experiment, fringe width equal to 1 mm is observed. Then the distance of the nearest bright fringe from the central fringe will be :

A

1 mm

B

`0.5 mm`

C

`2 mm`

D

Insufficient data, cannot be determined

The correct Answer is:
B

Given ,` beta = 1 mm = (D lamda //d)` Distance of 1 st bringht fringe from the centre
`x _(n) = 2n (( D lamda )/( 2d))`
For first bright fringe,
So `x _(1) = (( D lamda )/(d)) = (Dlamda )/(d) = 1 mm`
