In set up P, transpiration is limited by the plastic bag. The humid air will remain around the leaf and transpiration will be reduced. As a result, dye will move up to a lower height. In set up R, the humid air around the leaf will diffuse in environment freely and as a result, transpiration will continue unchecked, and the dye will move furthest up the stalk.
