Assertion:- The trajectory of projectile...

Assertion`:-` The trajectory of projectile in `XY` plane is quadratic in `x` and linear in `y` if x is independent of `X-`coordinate.
Reason `:-` `y-`coordinate of trajetory is independent of `x-`coordinate.

A

If both assertion and reason are true and the reason is the correct explanation of the assertion.

B

If both assertion and reason are true but reason is not the correct explanation of the assertion.

C

If assertion is true but reason is false.

D

If the assertion and reason both are false

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

Trajectory of a projectile is given by-
`y = x tan theta - (gx^(2))/(2v^(2) cos^(2) theta)`
It is clear from above expression trajectory of projectile is quadratic in x and linear in y, and y component is dependent on x-component.
