Water has a maximum density at `4^@C`. At point .Q. temperature is `4^@C`, thus water has maximum density at this point as volume is minimum.
Density=`"Mass"/"Volume"`
At `0^@C` (273 K), the melting point of ice, both ice and water co-exist. In crystal structure of ice there is more space between the molecules than in the molecules of liquid water. As a result ice is less dense (more volume) than water.
