Find the angle theta whose cosine is equ...

Find the angle `theta` whose cosine is equal to its tangent.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Given,
`cos theta=tan theta` or `cos^(2)theta=sin theta`
or `1-sin^(2)theta=sin theta` or `sin^(2)theta+sin theta-1=0`
or `sin theta=(-1+-sqrt(5))/(2)=2xx(sqrt(5)-1)/(4)=2sin 18^(@)`
or `theta=sin^(-1)(2 sin 18^(@))`.
