What is the main difference between electromagnetic wave theory and Planck's quantum theory ?

According to electromagnetic wave theory, the energy is emitted or absorbed continuously whereas according to Planck's quantum theory, energy is emitted or absorbed discontinousuly, i.e., in certain definite plackets called 'quanta'
