Why electrons present around the nucleus...

Why electrons present around the nucleus. The force of attractive is balanced by the centrifugal force.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The charge of the nucleus is positive and the charge of the electron is negative. There exists an electrostatic force between the positive nucleus and negative electrons. This electrostatic force supplies the necessary centripetal force for revolving of electrons around the nucleus.

Why do the electrons revolve around the nucleus?

Electrons revolving around the nucleus do not fall into the nucleus because of centrifugal force. Revolving electrons are planetary electrons.

Centripetal force and centrifugal force .

Centripetal and Centrifugal Force

Assertion: Electrons in the atom are held due to coulomb forces. Reason: The atom is stable only because the centripetal force due to Coulomb's law is balanced by the centrifugal force.

In an atom for the electron to revolve around the nucleus, the necessary centripetal force is obtained from the following force exerted by the nucleus on the electro

When a conducting disc is made to rotate about its axis, the centrifugal force causes the free electrons to be pushed toward the edge. This causes a sort of polarization and an electric field is induced. The radial movement of free electrons stops when electric force on an electron balance the centrifugal force. Calculate the potential difference developed across the centre and the edge of a disc of radius R rotating with angular speed omega . [This potential difference is sometimes called as sedimentation potential]. Take mass and charge of an electron to be m and e respectively
