Which out of carbon and silicon forms multiple bonds?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Due to smaller size and higher electronegatively , carbon undergoes `ppi- ppi` overlop to form multiple bonds but silicon does not.
For example , `CO_(2)` has `C = O` double bond but `SiO_(2)` has only `Si-O` single bonds.
