Heart rate depends on the size of animals, larger the animals slower the heart rate and smaller animals have larger heart rate. Thisis due to their metablism. Heart rate of human beings is 70-72 per minute and for elephant, it is 25-28 per minute.
Heart rate also depends on the living state of an organism. IT is slowest during sleeping (without dream) and increases during exercise, fever and emotions like anger and fear.
