With the rise of water temperature, dissolved oxygen:

A

remains unchanged

B

increases in amount

C

decreases in amount

D

is more available to the aquatic organisms

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
C

If temperature of water rises, the amount of dissolved oxygen decreases. Dissolved Oxygen (DO) is a relative measure of the amount of oxygen dissolved or carried in a given medium. Water contains very limited amount of dissolved oxygen. It comes from the atmosphere and from photosynthesis by aquatic plants. The aquatic organisms in turn uses this oxygen for respiration and to survive.
