A scrubber can remove gases like `SO_(2)`. In a scrubber, the exhaust is passed through a spray of water of lime. Catalytic converter has expensive metals namely platinum, palladium, rhodium that can convert `NO_(x)` to nitrogen and `CO` to `CO_(2)`. In this way, it reduces automobiles emission.
