What is the effect of the reduction of the volume of the system for the equilibrium
`2C(s)+O_(2)(g)hArr2CO(g)?`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

On reducing the volume, the pressure will increase. By Le Chatelier's principle , equilibrium will shift to the side accompanied by decrease of pressure, i.e., decrease in the number of gaseous mles, i.e., backward sirection.
