Which solution is used by police to test that a person is drunk ? How is it done ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Acidified potassium dichromate solution is used which has organge colour. The person is asked to breathe into the solution taken in a test tube. If the person has consumed alcohol, the organge colour will change into green colour due to oxidation of alcohol and reduction of acidified potassium dichromate to green coloured chromium sulphate.
