(i)` . _(21) Sc = [ Ar] 3d^(1) 4s^(2) , Sc^(3+) = [Ar] -` No unparied electron
`. _(24)Cr)=[Ar] 3d^(5) 4s^(1) , Cr^(3+)= [Ar] 3d^(3) - `Three unpaired electron
Hence, `Cr^(3+)` exhibits paramagnetism.
(ii) Mn exhibits more number of oxidation states.
Reason. `._(23) V = 3d^(3) 4s^(2)`. Its ox. states can be` + 2, + 3, +4, +5`
`. _(25) Mn = 3d^(5) 4s^(2)` . Its ox. states can be ` +2, +3,+4,+5,+6,+7`
