The frequencies of two tuning forks A an...

The frequencies of two tuning forks `A` and `B` are respectively `1.5%` more `2.5%` less than that of tuning fork `C`. When `A` and `B` sounded together, 12 beats are produced in `1` second. The frequency of tuning fork `C` is

A

200 Hz

B

240 Hz

C

360 Hz

D

300 Hz

The correct Answer is:
D

Suppose the frequency of tuning fork C is v Hz. The frequency of tuning fork A is
`v+(1.5)/(100)v=1.015v`
the frequency of tuning fork B is ltBrgt `v-(2.5)/(100)v=0.975`v
Beat frequency of tuning fork A and B is
`1.015v-0.975v=0.04v`
Thus, 0.04v=12
`impliesv-(12)/(0.04)=300Hz`
