In forward bias the width of depletion layer is

A

decreases with increase in potential barrier voltage

B

increases with increase in potential barrier voltage

C

independent of potential barrier voltage

D

none of the above

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
A

In forward biasing, the forward bias voltage opposes the potential barrier `V_(B)`. Due to it, the potential barrier is considerable reduced, the depletion region becomes thin, the potential barrier is much reduced and at some forward voltage
(0.1 to 0.3 V), it is eliminated altogether.
