Twelve tickets are numbered from 1 to 12. One ticket is drawn at random, then the probability of the number to be divisible by 2 or 3 is

A

`2/3`

B

`7/12`

C

`5/6`

D

`3/4`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
A

Let `E` be the event of numbers to be divisible by 2 or 3.
`:.e=[2,3,4,5,8,9,10,12]`
`impliesn(E)=8`
and `n(S)=12`
Hence, required probability `=(n(E))/(n(S))`
`=8/12=2/3`
