The length of a sonometer wire between t...

The length of a sonometer wire between two fixed ends is 110cm. Where should the two bridges the placed so as to divide the wire into three segments, whose fundamental frequencies are in the ration` 1:2:3?`

A

30 cm and 90 cm

B

40 cm and 80 cm

C

60 cm and 90 cm

D

30 cm and 60 cm

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
C

For snonometer `nl=` constant
`l_(1):l_(2):l_(3)=1/(n_(1)):1/(n_(2)):1/(n_(3))=1/1:1/2:1/3`
`=6:3:2`
As `l_(1)+l_(2)+l_(3)=110cm`
On solving `l_(1)=60cm`
`l_(2)=30cm, l_(3)=20cm`
So, bridges should be placed at 60 cm and 90 cm.
