A straight line perpendicular to the line 2x +y =3 is passing through (1,1) lts y-intercept is

A

1

B

2

C

3

D

`1/2`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

A straight line perpendicular to 2x +y= 3 is
x-2y +c =0
since, it passes through (1,1)
`1-2(1) +c =0 Rightarrow c=1`
On putting c=1 in Eq. (i) We get
x-2y +1 =0 `Rightarrow x-2y=-1`
` Rightarrow x/(-1) + y/(y_(2)) =1`
So, the y-intercepts is ` 1/2`
