Find the slope of the normal to the curve `y=x^2-1/(x^2)` at (-1, 0)

A

`4`

B

`1/4`

C

`-4`

D

`-1/4`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
B

Given `y=x^(2)-1/(x^(2))`
`implies(dy)/(dx)=2x+2/(x^(3))`
On putting `x=-1`, we get
`(dy)/(dx)=-2-2=-4`
`:.` Slope of normal `=(-1)/(((dy)/(dx)))=(-1)/(-4)=1/4`
