Find the minimum and maximum wavelengths...

Find the minimum and maximum wavelengths of sound in water that is in the audible range (20-20000 Hz) for an average human ear. Speed of sound in water `= 1450 m s^-1`.

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
B, C

a.For minimum wavelength,
`n=20 kHz`
`rarr v=nlamda`
`rarr lamda=(1450/(20xx10^3))`
`=7.25cm`
`b. For maximum wave length n should be minimum
`rarr v=nlamda`
`rarrlamda=(1450/20)=72.5m`
