Acetyl chloride in the presence of anhydrous `AlCl_(3)` : When chlorobenzence is reacted with acetyl chloride in the presence of anhydrous `AlCl_(3), ` a mixture of 2-chloro acetophenone and 4-chloro acetophenone (major product ) is formed. Since, the acetyl group is introduced in the benzence ring, the reaction is termed as Friedel Crafts acylation.
