Explain in brief the flickering of an object seen through a turbulent stream of hot air rising above the Holi fire

Text Solution

During the Holi fire, the temperature of the air just above the fire becomes much greater than that of the air further up. The hot air has lower density (mass per unit volume) and lower refraactive index. It becomes an optically rarer medium. The cool air has higher density and higher refractive index. It is an opically denser medium relative to hot air. Hence, in refractive index. It is an optically denser medium relative to hot air. Hence, in refractive of light, the angle of refractive index. As the physcial conditions of air change rapidly, the apparent position of an object fluctuates rapidly. This gives rise to the flickering of an object seen through a turbulent stream of hot air rising above the Holi fire.

Explain why, if we look at objects through the hot air over a fire, the objects appear to be moving (or shaking) slightly.

Arrange the following steps in a sequential order to explain the formation of conventional currents through ventilation. (a) the cold air enters into the room through windows from high pressure to low pressure region (b) hot air in the room is less denser and it raises up (c ) the rooms are provided with ventilators at the top (d) hot air passes out through the ventilators it creates low pressure region in the room

A thin rod of length 0.75 m and mass 0.42 kg is suspended freely from one end. It is pulled to one side and then allowed to swing like a pendulum, passing through its lowest position with angular speed 3.5 rad/s. Neglecting friction and air resistance, find (a) the rod's kinetic energy at its lowest position and (b) how far above that position the center of mass rises.

Torricelli was the first do devise an experiment for measuring atmospheric pressure . He took calibrated hard glass tube , 1 m in lengt and of uniform cross section , closed at one end . He filled the whole tube with dry mercury taking care than no air or water droplets remain inside the tube , closed the opposite end of the tube tightly with thumb and inverted it . He put this inverted mercury tube into a mercury through , taking care that the end of the tube remains inside the mercury through , An interesting thing was noticed . Mercury in the tube fell down at first and then stopped at a particular position . The height was 76 cm above the free surface of mercury in the through . When the given tube was inclined or lowered in the mercury trough , the vertical haight of mercury level in the tube was always found constant . Torricelli explained this by saying that the free surface of mercury in the trough . Hence , the hydrostatic pressure exerted by the trough measures the atmospheric pressure . If an additional hole is also made at P ' at the top point of the tube , then

Two years ago Mayank obtained degree in food technology. For some time he worked in a company manufacturing bread and biscuits. He was not happy in the company and decided to have his own bread and biscuits manufacturing unit. For this he decided the objectives and the targets and formulated action plan to achieve the same. One of his objective was to earn 50% profit on the amount invested in the first year.It was decided that raw materials like flour sugar, salt, etc will be purchased on two months credit. He also decided to follow the steps required for marketing the products through his own outlets He appointed Harsh as a Production Manager who decided the exact manner in which the production activities are to be carried out. Harsh also prepared a statement showing the requirement of workers in the factory throughout the year. Mayank informed Harsh about his sales target for different products areawise for the forthcoming quarter. While working on the production table a penalty of 150 per day was announced for not wearing the helmet. gloves and apron by the workers Quoting lines from the above para identify and explain the different types of plans discussed
