Draw g' versus d and g' versus h graph. ...

Draw g' versus `d and g'` versus `h` graph. Here, 'd' is depth below the surface of earth and `h` is the height from the surface of earth.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

On the surface of earth,
`g' = g`
At depth 'd' below the surface of earth,
`g' = g(1-(d)/(R))`
i.e. `g'` decrease linearly with depth.
At, `d = R, g' = 0`
At height `h`above the surface of earth.
`g' = (g)/((1+(h)/(R))^(2))`
With increase in the value of 'h' vlue of g' decrease but not lineraly. At `h rarr oo, g' rarr 0.`
The correct graph is as shown in Fig.`13.20`.
