A satellite is revolving around a planet...

A satellite is revolving around a planet in a circular orbit. What will happen, if its speed is increased from `upsilon_(0)` to
`sqrt(1.5) upsilon_(0)` (b) `2 upsilon_(0)`

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
A, B, C

`nu_(e) = sqrt(2) nu_(0)*` Given`nu = sqrt(1.5) nu_(0)`
If `nu_(0) lt nu lt nu_(e)`, satellite will be move in elliptical orbit with initial position as the perige position.
(b) `nu = 2nu_(0) gt sqrt(2) nu_(0)` or `nu_(e)`
Hence, the satellite will escape to infinity.
