p-V diagram of an ideal gas for a process ABC is as shown in the figure.
(a) Find total heat absorbed or released by the gas during the process ABC.
(b) Change in internal energy of the gas during the process ABC.
(c) Plot pressure versus density graph of the gas for the process ABC.

The correct Answer is:
A, B, C, D

(a) and (b) `(pV)_A=(pV)_C=3p_0V_0`
`:.` `T_A=T_C` or `DeltaT=0`
`:.` `DeltaU_(ABC)=0`
`Q_(ABC)=W_(ABC)=` Area under the graph
`=-2p_0V_0`
i.e. Heat is released during the process.
(c) Process AB
`rho`-p graph will be a straight line parallel to `rho`-axis because pressure is constant. Further, V is decreasing. Therefore, `rho` will increase.
Process BC
`V=constantimpliesrho=constant`
Therefore, `rho`-p graph is a straight line parallel to p-axis.
`rho`-p graph is as shown below.
