Two points on a travelling wave having frequency 500 Hz and velocity `300 ms^(-1)` are `60^(@)` out of phase, then the minimum distance between the two point is

A

0.2

B

0.1 m

C

0.5 m

D

0.4 m

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
B

As `v=n lambda`
`:. Lambda =v/n=300/500=3/5 m`
Now, Phase difference `=(2pi)/lambda xx` Path difference
`:. 60^(@)=(2pi)/lambda xx` Path difference
or `(60^(@) xx pi)/180^(@)=(2pi xx5)/3 xx` Path difference
Path diference `=(3xx60 xxpi)/(2pi xx5xx180)=0.1 m`
