The phase difference between two points ...

The phase difference between two points is `pi//3`. If the frequency of wave is 50 Hz, then what is the distance between two points?
`("Given, "v=330 ms^(-1))`

A

2.2 m

B

1.1 m

C

0.6 m

D

1.7 m

The correct Answer is:
B

Phase difference `= (2pi)/(lamda) xx` path difference. From relation, `Delta phi = (2pi)/(lamda) xx Delta x rArr Delta x = (lamda)/(2pi) xx Delta phi`..(i)
Also, `lamda = (v)/(n)`…..(ii)
Now, from Eqs. (i) and (ii), we get
`Deltax = (v)/(2pi n) xx Delta phi = (330)/(2pi xx 50) xx (pi)/(3) = 1.1 m`
