If a current of `0.5` ampere flows through a metallic wire for 2h, then how many electrons would flow through the wire ?

Text Solution

Quantity of charge (Q) passed = Current `(C ) xx ` Time (t)
`=(0.5 A)xx (2xx60xx60s)`
`=(3600)` Ampere `sec =3600C`
Number of electrons folowing through the wire on spassing charge of
one Faraday `(96500C) =6.022xx10^(23)`
Number of electrons following through the wire on passing a charge of 3600 C
`=(6.022xx10^(22)xx(3600C))/((96500C))`
`=2.246xx10^(22)`
Number of electrons `=2.246xx10^(22)`
