Bond dissociation enthalpy of `F_(2)` is less than that of `Cl_(2)` - explain.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Bond dissociation enthalpy of `F_(2)` is less than that of `Cl_(2)`
Explanation :
In `F_(2)` molecule electeron repulsions are greater among lone pairs because these lone pairs are much closer to each other than in case of `Cl_(2)`.
