o-Hydroxy benzaldehyde is more soluble in water than p-hybroxy benzaldehde
(b) o-Hydroxy benzaldehyde is liquid at room temperature while p-hydroxy benzaldehyde is high melting solid .

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

o-hydroxy benzaldehyde (I) has strong intramolecular H-bonding than p-hyhdroxy benzaldehyde (II). (II) has strong intermoleculer H-bonding than (I). Intermolecular H-bonding is stronger than intermolecular H-bonding. So (II) is solid and has higher point, while (I) is liquid.
