How does the presence of double bonds in rubber molecules influence their structure and reactivity?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Natural rubber is all-cis polyisoprene which is obtained
The cis-bond in isoprene do not allow the polymer chains to come closer for effective interaction and hence intermolecular forces are very weak.As a result, natural rubber acquires randomly coiled structure and shows elasticity.
