The electric field intensity at all points in space is given by `vecE = sqrt(3)hati - hatj` volts//metre. The nature of equipotential lines is x-y plane is given by

A

B

C

D

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

The direction of unifrom electric field `E` in `xy`-plane is as shown in figure `1`.
The equipotential lines will be perpendicular to electirc field. Also eelctric field points from high potential region towards low potential region. Therefore nature of equipotential line in `x-y` plane is given by figure `2`.
