The reading of voltmeter in the following cicruit is

A

`6.25 V`

B

`4.25 V`

C

`2.75 V`

D

`2.25 V`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

(d) Resistance of voltemter `40 Omega` and `60 Omega` are in parallel
`:.` Equivalent resistance
`(60 xx 40)/(60 + 40) = (60 xx 40)/(100) = 24 Omega`
current `I = (6 V)/((40 + 24) Omega) = (6)/(64) = (3)/(32) A`
The voltmeter reads potential difference across `60 W` Voltmeter reading `= I xx R_(eq)`
`= (3)/(32) xx 24 = - (9)/(4) V = 2.25 V`
