In biologcal studies, capillarity action is utilised in paper chromatography . Botanists use paper chromatograph to identify the chemical make-up of plants. In this study, leaves from a plant are ground up and mixed with a solvent to make a mobile phase. Due to capillarity actionm the liquid moves through teh piece of paper. THe different chemical substances move at different speeds through the piece of paper. and hence can be separated.
Medical technologist use paper chromatography to test the urine of diabatic patients to determine the suger level in them and to jedge whether the patient's pancreas are fuctioning properly or not.
